A Letter of Guidance to an Illiterate, Obsessive, Narcissistic Juvenile.

Most of us have known about the “letters of recommendations” outgoing presidents leave for their successors.  Though; I’ve neither heard nor seen any of the contents of those letters until now, my assumption was that they contain information not meant for the public, or contain reasons many of the promises the incoming cannot be met.  Maybe parts of it fall well into that category, for it seems many “promises” the then candidates made on their campaign trails never see the light of day.

However; at least parts of President Obama’s letter have been publicized in the past two days by many media outlets, revealing words of encouragement and advice that any sane man would both appreciate and follow, from an outgoing president.

CNN printed this much of it, and who knows, perhaps it’s the full letter:

Dear Mr. President -
Congratulations on a remarkable run. Millions have placed their hopes in you, and all of us, regardless of party, should hope for expanded prosperity and security during your tenure.
This is a unique office, without a clear blueprint for success, so I don't know that any advice from me will be particularly helpful. Still, let me offer a few reflections from the past 8 years.
First, we've both been blessed, in different ways, with great good fortune. Not everyone is so lucky. It's up to us to do everything we can (to) build more ladders of success for every child and family that's willing to work hard.
Second, American leadership in this world really is indispensable. It's up to us, through action and example, to sustain the international order that's expanded steadily since the end of the Cold War, and upon which our own wealth and safety depend.
Third, we are just temporary occupants of this office. That makes us guardians of those democratic institutions and traditions -- like rule of law, separation of powers, equal protection and civil liberties -- that our forebears fought and bled for. Regardless of the push and pull of daily politics, it's up to us to leave those instruments of our democracy at least as strong as we found them.
And finally, take time, in the rush of events and responsibilities, for friends and family. They'll get you through the inevitable rough patches.
Michelle and I wish you and Melania the very best as you embark on this great adventure, and know that we stand ready to help in any ways which we can.

Now, personally, had I received such a letter from anyone with the experience and credentials of President Obama, not only would I read it, I would memorize and recall it daily in an attempt to follow the suggested outlines of success.  The letter is not just a guide towards decency for all human beings, but to a successful role as the nation’s leader.

First Point of advice: Building Ladders to Success:  Use the gift of wealth and influence we have that many of the world will never see to build ladders for others to rise to success.

Sadly; the only ladder Trump has built is the ladder to HeII for the U.S.  Every effort Trump exerts is an effort to achieve a negative outcome for us all, placing us at the foot of that ladder, holding it steady while he, in his own world, climbs that ladder.

In his arrogance; an arrogance so absolute, so utterly extreme, Trump’s incapable of taking advice, incapable, of listening to any who have gone before him and learned the lessons from which he could benefit; he’s incapable of understanding that there are many, many who have gone before him who can guide him.

Instead, he took the opportunity to show his clownish, juvenile view of all who, in his mind, are beneath him (all other human beings), waving the letter mocking its sender as though it was a love letter between two lovers and he'd discovered it and wished to amuse and make himself feel taller than all others with it by exposing it to the world.

And; this effort is not entirely due to Trumps absolute ineptness at virtually everything he does, but many of his efforts seem to be intentional disregard for the purpose of childishly thumbing his nose at President Obama.  Trump’s obsessive character trait will not allow him to accomplish anything other than to display his obsession for revenge politics, his bigoted perspective of the world and his disgusting treatment of the poor and disabled.

However; remember those academic credentials he flaunted not long ago? “I went to to better schools and received better grades than any of them did.

Well, I suppose, if “you're like this really smart guy who earned a four-year degree at Wharton's School of Finance and Commerce”, you have the right to flaunt that degree in the faces of the likes of Bill Clinton, a Rhodes Scholar (something that would make graduating from Wharton's look like graduating from pre-school), and Obama's Occidental College, Columbia Thesis for his Master's Degree, and his Doctorate in Constitutional Law at Harvard Law School.

Well, I take that back. I doubt you have any right at all to compare yourself to either Bill Clinton or Barack Obama in any form of education and certainly not in intelligence. That Wharton degree?  Keep it for when we have a TP shortage.  It’ll look really good next to your gold-leafed vanity mirror.

Trump’s myopic view of the world is a direct result of his extremely sheltered, wealthy childhood.  Though most wealthy children grow up with a healthy perspective towards life and are highly educated, Trump’s dangerous narcissism accompanied with his pampered childhood has created a man whose only thoughts, indeed obsessions, are of himself and how he can get more for himself.  

His arrogance undoubtedly interfered drastically in the outcome of his education, too arrogant to listen to anyone.  What else would explain his semi-severe illiteracy?

However; I simply don't see any effort whatsoever by Trump to follow the advice of forty-four on any of the 4 main points he suggested.  In fact; what I do perceive are a malignant narcissist’s efforts to, not just ignore them, but to make every attempt to deny and defile the very nature of the advice.


Second Point: Leading the World.  In President Obama’s words; “American leadership in this world really is indispensable. It's up to us, through action and example, to sustain the international order that's expanded steadily since the end of the Cold War, and upon which our own wealth and safety depend.” 


But; Trump is nothing, but the world’s worst leader, perhaps ever.  And; in that, I don’t mean bad because he leads us down the wrong path, though that is indeed what he’s doing.

What I mean is he is utterly incapable of leading men and women towards any path; towards any goal.  The man doesn’t even understand the skills it takes for good leadership and he is abdicating every leadership role the U.S. has taken decades and many wars to build, both amongst allies and adversaries alike.

There are many leadership styles, but few to which followers respond well.

Simply through watching him, I can guarantee I know which style of leadership he subscribes to; the style that those most new to leadership, or those who are far too arrogant to learn ALWAYS use.

Trump views leadership as something that automatically comes with and from position and, as a result, the autocratic style that accompanies him and those like him, is oppressive, ineffective, caustic and ruinous at best.

His arrogance and narcissism prevents his learning anything new.

He will never learn anything; anything at all.  Rather; he’ll continue to view those he sees as his “followers” as disposable, even useless sheep who don’t have the brains to follow his “highly valuable” leadership and should be responding to his autocratic rule, or they’re committing acts of treachery.  Hence, Sally Yates, Preet Bharara, James Comey, Steve Bannon, Sean Spicer, etc, etc….are no longer around.

For all of us who have held leadership roles, we know precisely how hard we must work to EARN the respect of those we lead; how tenuous that leadership can be, how difficult it is to attain, and how so very easily it can be lost.

The long, arduous work had already been accomplished for Trump, all the incompetent fool needed to do was to continue the forward progress.

But, in true Trump fashion and perhaps even through his seething hate for President Obama, or just his sheer embarrassment with himself upon learning he can’t lead, he turned his back on the world and in doing so, placed the interests of you and me, the U.S. and the entire planet in the trunk of the car he’s driving, peddle to the metal, towards the cliff.

But; you can be sure he’ll leave a note behind blaming someone else for his leadership flaws though - probably his lifetime friend Thomas Jefferson b 1743, d 1846, who somehow shared his anger with the U.S. for the U.S. Civil War, fifteen years after his death.

Trump refuses to assume the role many world leaders look to for help in their own nations, because he’s afraid doing so will expose a massive weakness in a man with far more weaknesses than he has strengths.  He can’t lead anything or anyone, especially globally.  The only thing the clown does is leaves decision-making to others as he goes golfing every weekend, then blames any missteps on whomever he can find close at hand.  It’s no wonder he thought leading the nation as a part-time job.

Third point: “we are just temporary occupants of this office. That makes us guardians of those democratic institutions and traditions -- like rule of law, separation of powers, equal protection and civil liberties -- that our forebears fought and bled for.”

The doofus Trump hasn’t a clue as to what integrity is and the moron certainly doesn’t understand the separation of powers.  I can tell you as surely as I’m sitting here writing this this evening, Trump views himself as THE POWER.  Kim Donald-dung.


He’s made that abundantly clear on multiple occasions in his legal battles over the Travel Ban, his efforts to deport masses of people that even includes U.S. Citizens.  He attacked the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, threatening to “break them up” because they ruled against his travel ban directed towards Muslims.

Trump was really castrated and infuriated when another Appeals Court shot down his travel ban again, and a Federal Judge blocked part of Trump’s sanctuary cities executive orders.

NONE of his appointees have a clue as to what they’re supposed to be doing and have no understanding whatsoever of their limitations of power.

Jeff Sessions made that perfectly clear when he stated “I really am amazed that a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific can issue an order that stops the president of the United States from what appears to be clearly his statutory and constitutional power,” when speaking of the Federal Judge Derrick Watson’s ruling.  In other words; “I don’t see how a mere judge has the power to rule against tyranny and dictatorship”.

Trump’s efforts to ramrod laws limiting the powers of the EPA were blocked as well when the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia  prevented Scott Pruitt and Trump from rolling back dozens of President Obama’s environmental rules restricting methane emissions.

Trump has made it perfectly clear too, on where he stands with civil liberties in his comments about Charlottesville and his continued vehement remarks and adamant support for those comments backing the White Supremacy groups.

Despite President Obama’s efforts to guide him, Trump’s continuous lies, falsified story-telling; stories such as General Sherman, during the US/Philippine war in 1891, rolling bullets in pig’s blood before killing “Muslim Terrorist” POWs.

His lies to the Boy Scouts of America; and then of course, there’s truly the absurdest of absurdity: Trump insisting, despite the efforts of all the people who tried to inform him of the error in his claim “he has a close friendship with Frederick Douglass”.  Insisting that it was once again the fake press who has  made a mockery of a personal friend of Trump’s, Frederick Douglass by claiming he’s dead”.   The same Frederick Douglass who died over 132 years ago:

“Based on what Betsy said about me, we could really use Fred’s energy around here,” Trump said.

He lashed out at the press for reporting that Frederick Douglass was dead, calling those reports “very unfair.”

“That’s a nasty thing to say about someone who is alive and doing a great job,” he said. “This is why the press is failing and it's failing very, very badly.”


And with that, I can write no more absurdities, or my own mind will explode.  But then, I have a few more months of Trump before he pushes the U.S. beyond the breaking point and we collectively say to Trump; “your fired”, you moron.”

  1. Each day Drumpf brings on a new palm-to-the-forehead moment for me. Dick Nixon was a piker compared to this piece of work. I would have said, POS, but it has been used in his name so often that it no longer has any effect.

    As far as leadership...you nailed it...those of us who have been there, know when we see the absence of it...and there is no hope for this bum. I've mental noted a tell-tale trait of his which is one of the major signs that he sees his position as above all others. It is his glaring and irritating habit of referring to those who serve as his advisers and staff as "his people". They and we are not "your" people, Donny. Sad.

    1. Thanks jaded. I don't know if you caught it or not, but during one of his campaign rallies prior to the elections, he made a very odd statement while pointing into the audience. I'm truly amazed the entire nation didn't erupt into flames over it, but, as he was pointing and losing into the audience he said; "where's my African American boy? Where is he? Ahhh! there you are."

      I thought, at the time, that he was being his typically open racists Trump and just being an asshole. But at later rallies and even at those he's carrying on now, there's a single African American guy always siting within sight of the cameras.

      The guy looks and acts as though he's a mental case, but he's always there and I have a very strong feeling that he's a paid shill, there to fool the morons who continue to support their moronic leader =, to fill them into thinking; "see, he's not racist".

      Sadly enough, Trump's even too stupid to realize that this very action does nothing but to confirm his racism; and it confirms that he knows he's a racists pig.

      What a piece of work we've saddled ourselves with. Even if he's successfully impeached within the next few months, it's going to take years and many very strong U.S. Presidents to repair the damage this clown has created.

  2. And it's all true every damn bit of it. Not even a stretch any of it. Yes this prick is owned by pretty much half of this country's populace and what gets me too is what does this say about us as a country and how we got here. Nothing good that is for damn sure. I back away from this more and more everyday. The ignorant bastard wants to shoot off a biggie more than anything and that is scarier than a lot of the other things. Hate is an easy word to use but literally I hate most of these slugs period.

    1. You're right. Trump wants to nuke some country so bad, his fingers twitch at the mention of the football.

      But, that again shows us exactly who/what Trump is, for no sane human being would want to be the person responsible for the vaporization of millions of people and all sane people realize that such an event will cascade into a full-blown nuclear war.

      That will be the point at which ever achievement of humanity will disappear. Our history will be gone, all our knowledge gained through the efforts of scientific studies, mathematical discoveries, engineering, EVERYTHING humans have accomplished, gone in a few seconds after trump pulls the trigger on the first.

      And make no mistake, Kim Jong-un is humanity's example of sanity and peace when compared to Trump and it will be Trump who will mark the end of humanity, if we don't get the moron out of the WH NOW.

    Stating the obvious is always helpful, especially since there seems to be a stubborn and equally demented minority of our population who think this deviant (Trump) has something to offer our country.

    I will enter into the ridiculous debate on which man might be nuttier. I would say Kim, if for no other reason that he is in the much weaker position while offering his maniacal, demented threats. All Trump has to do is wait for Kim to take one step to far and anything Trump would do would be supported by the world powers including China.

    It should be noted that part of North Korea's character is spewing unsubstantiated threats. This was true of Kim's grandfather and father, but they never had nuclear weapons that could back up their threats.

    American's stupidity is not outdone by North Korean's stupidity. Any American who could not see Trump's criminal, demented behavior since the late 1970's must be as void of conscience as Trump himself.

    In defense of American voters, they are not left with much choice after corporate America gets done funding their candidates, but still, it's their votes at each step of the process.

    Of course, America has the most to lose with their demented leader. North Korea has already lost any chance of being a civilized society after decades of demented family leadership in charge. America could easily lose its standing in the world as a moral leader and has already lost most of that good will. Trump will put the final nail in that coffin. Criminal charges followed by an impeachment for Trump can change that course by proving to the world we are not as amoral as advertised.

    History tells us our presidents do not lose power, or popularity because of the mistakes of war. LBJ lost the South and his/democratic power because of his civil rights legislation. The famous, "we have lost the South forever" became the reality of the Democratic party to this day. It was not his lies about the Gulf of Tonkin, or his other lies about Vietnam. Bush won reelection even after his lies about Iraq became clear. Nixon resigned office, but not because of his lies about Vietnam, which cost thousands of American lives, not to mention uncounted Asian lives.

    Trump would not have to destroy North Korea with nuclear weapons to stop Kim, but he will, because he needs to prove to the world he has the biggest penis. We have some experience on how to deal with a 13 year old psychopath, but never when they were president of the United States.

    1. I always enjoy receiving your comments. How are you feeling?

      I sometimes wonder if writing these blogs ever accomplishes a thing. Purposely involving myself in extreme some of the right-wing’s, self-affirming, discussions on other's pages, Face Book, news article comments, etc. and the least they do is never respond, but most often their short bursts of temper are dripping with acid; no attempt whatsoever at civil discourse.

      I understand the deeply engrained mindset of team attitude, it's been the means by which humans have survived for millions of years of evolution.

      However; I find no reason for the severely caustic remarks that offering an alternative perspective invokes among we humans and worry that such behavior is shining a very bright light on precisely how humanity's extinction will come about.

      That and having two lunatics threatening one another with nuclear war; a show between two circus clowns which has me far more on edge than did even the Cuban missile crisis, a time when we were very fortunate to have one very stable and thoughtful leader and perhaps the other was as well, but just enjoyed a little grandstanding.

      Can you imagine Trump managing that situation. He is far too much of a fool to have picked up on the subtle clues of Khrushchev’s attempted negotiation Kennedy, in his brilliance, understood. And, once once he’d taken us to the brink, Trump is far too arrogant to back down.

      This time around, we have two utterly incompetent, narcissistic morons who have absolutely no understanding of the consequences of nuclear war, even one that, if they were lucky, may be held in check to the two nations.

      Neither have a concept, or even os much as a bit of concern for the millions who will die as a result of their horrific choice.

      Kim has proven his inhumanity and I'm certain Trump wouldn't mind at all proving the same.

      Indeed, they don't. In fact; they seem to grow in popularity during war, a recent example being Dubya.

      Though his war was not as much his doing as it was Cheney and Rumsfeld, he was still the Commander in Chief and it was his call. He was simply too weak to prevent himself from being manipulated into action I truly don't believe he would have taken had it not been for the pressure and the lies thrown at him daily until he caved.

      Let’s just hope Mueller beats destiny to the punch.

    I remember reading this and agreeing with it 100%!

    The indictments in the last 24 hours refreshed my memory of your statement and has me rooting for Mueller and his investigative team.

    Your even more recent statement about Democrats kissing Trump's ass became a reality and made me literally sick.

    It's horrible watching how such a strong and long lasting government can so quickly fall.

    I've been in the hospital for weeks and cannot listen to Trump tear down this country, so I stopped listening. I'm recuperating by listening to music, reading and thinking about mind altering drugs again, something I haven't thought about for 40 years.

    But hey, as Timothy Leary said about Nixon, it's to depressing to think about, so turn on, tune in, and drop out!

    That's from a guy (me) who has been involved and cared for 60 years about politics and my country. If I could physically, I would be in the streets protesting. I can't believe more people are not in the streets.

    I have been hoping for decades that before I pass on this country would take a turn to the left, but I won't be around to see it if it happens.

    I have to say, I blame this downfall on the Baby Boomer generation, my generation. Sad!

    I don't see the voters, or elected politicians making the needed change, so I have to count on guys like Muller and the courts. The courts are the last vestige of the rule of law. If they can't stop this, it won't be stopped.

    Sorry I sound so pessimistic, but I can't help it.

    1. I can't blame you at all for your pessimism. I have to search to find every ounce of optimism myself.

      You're right about the Boomers. There's simply no other generation we can shovel the piles of blame onto, for even as old as we're becoming, we still own the numbers that could and should be doing something about this.

      Las Vegas, where I live, is a very strange place in regards to speaking out. I've participated in protests for several issues and I've yet to be surprised by vast numbers of protestors. I think the latest crowd I've seen has been about 35-40 protestors. It's as though people have come to this area to rid themselves of responsibility. Even those 35-40, when we'd try to get a rhythmical chant going, it was like listening to a bunch of people whisper to one another. And they were all, to the last one, boomers. NO energy whatsoever, leaving me to wonder why they even bothered to show up.

      I subscribe to the Washington Post online where I read an article stating that Rick Gates was in custody and has been for months now. The very strong impression I got was that he was in protective custody, as the WP, or anyone else knew where in custody he was. He apparently wore a wire for the FBI for some time, so this investigation was red hot long before we knew it even existed, giving an entirely new emphasis on the firing of James Comey.

      If this goes to the top, as it should, we're going to see a lot of those tin hat people screaming "conspiracy to take down their beloved tin hat leader Trump."

      Indeed! In fact; it's rather stunning and even frightening how one individual who's made billions ripping off banks, contractors, employees and "students" can bring such havoc to our nation. I truly feel we need to remove some of the powers held by our presidents. It's simply too easy from one man to destroy all the good efforts of the past, simply out of spite, hate and xenophobia.

      I never thought I'd see the day in which both houses of Congress would sit on they butts and do nothing as one man destroyed decades of progress this nation has achieved; from civil rights to health care. I get the feeling they are sitting idle, allowing Trump to do the things he's doing, so they can get what they want and later pin it on Trump. The perfect scenario for them to tear up Obama's accomplishments and be blameless.

      You are welcome to rant here any time for any reason, be it out of pessimism or optimism. And, above all else, I sincerely hope you can stay around for many years to come. I would sincerely miss our conversations.

      I'm not at all religious, so I won't be a silly hypocrite and say my prayers are with you.

      However; know for certain that I am thinking of and pulling for you, with hope that you can beat whatever is making you ill. The world needs good people like you, so you've simply got to stick around for a while longer.
