Inhumane Humanity

Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed. --Herman Melville

Requiem For A Young Magpie

Gracing you

With his presence, flying through your lives

Acquiescing to Earth’s gravity.

With every beat of his strong wings,

He straines to soar with the stars.

Passing nearby, a breeze from his wings

Whispers into your ears

Caresses your faces

With his song of love

With his eternal hope

His presence you celebrated

His grace and beauty a gift to you

With visions of hopefulness

Imagination and desires

His strength deep within his heart

Despair not

He glides freely

Amongst his stars, visions, imagination and desires

He has broken Earth’s hold

But takes the bonds of your love with him

He is the clouds

Moving peacefully through the skies

He is the wind

Flowing through your hair, cooling your heart

He is the rain

Falling upon your faces,

Mixing with your tears

He is the waves

Of oceans pure, caressing feet with gentle fingers

He is the land

Upon which you walk

Guiding your path with his love

He is your soul, as you are his

And with you he shall reside

Whispering into your ears

Caressing your faces

With his song of love

  4. Boomer,

Maybe you and I should start a poetry blog. I've had a few published and am always working on new ones. It's a "boomer" thing, I guess.

  5. Shaw - that'd be fun. LET"S DO IT.
