Inhumane Humanity

Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed. --Herman Melville

Bad Boys, Watchya Gonna Do

For the best effect, play both videos at the same time - too cool

Twenty Five years old and he's facing a possible 16 years in the pen.

This guy is a real bad player!!!

Yep - Al Jazeera reports that Anthony Graber, a sergeant in the Maryland Air National Guard is facing 16 years in prison. They serve our country and get arrested for inadvertently filming a cop arrest him for reckless driving/speeding and posting it on You-tube.

Now what was the U.S. Mainstream Media saying about Al Jazeera when they first appeared in the U.S. market? They're subversive to democracy??

I'm not sure, but it appears that in this case, democracy is subversive unto itself.

  1. We have become so paranoid in this country about cameras that it is ludicrous.

Fact is, it has been upheld in court that we have the right to film police in action, as long as it does not interfere with the performance of their duties.

In addition, my feeling is that many policemen should not BE policemen. I suppose standards have been lowered, and lowered and lowered to offset the dumbing down of America.

That's the same thing I was thinking about the clown who jumped out of his car - NO BDGE, just points a gun at the kid and says "state patrol."

How the hell was the guy on the bike supposed to know that he wasn't about to be "capped for his ride?" The cop was acting rather strangely when he sees a patrol cruiser pull up too, like he was hiding his gun.

Overreaction on part of the entire state of Maryland I'd say.

  3. I can't see the conviction standing... the implications for photo-journalism would be alarming.

  4. I agree magpie, in fact I read some follow-up and some of the Maryland political heads and the state DA is telling the local DA to back down as he's misinterpreting the "anti-wire tapping" law they're charging him with.

  5. In a police state, the police don't like to be bothered with the formalities of the rule of law.
